Yakshagana Illustration

I made this Illustration of Yakshagana (Carnatic Folk), which was given as a gift to the performers.
Yakshagana is a theater form that combines dance, music, dialogue, costume, make-up, and stage techniques with a unique style and form. This theater style, resembling Western opera, is mainly found in the coastal districts and the Malenadu region of Karnataka, India. Yakshagana is traditionally presented from dusk to dawn. (Yes, I copy pasted it from wikipedia ;)

Freelance Character Designs

These are some character designs I did for an old freelance project. It was for a TV commercial that required 4 cartoon animals. A crocodile, a monkey, a squirrel and a lion. There wasn't much room to experiment with the style since the brief was quite clear to make it 'cute'. Also for some of the designs, it had to look like already existing characters like 'Alex' the lion. Still and interesting project though. And sorry for the horrible quality of pictures. :\

Sunday morning sketches - Animal shed (Bangalore)

Last weekend me and my colleague went for a skecthing session at a nearby animal shed. It was the first time we visited this place, and we had no idea what to expect. It turned out to be a great place with plenty of domestic animals to sketch. And to our surprise we found camels in the open. Thankfully most of these animals very quite lazy and they dint move much, so it was not that difficult to capture their poses. We are gona visit this place more often. :) Next time some colors maybe.
